Summary
This special issue explores advancements in energy-efficient buildings to address global energy challenges and climate change. With buildings contributing significantly to energy consumption and emissions, their transformation is key to achieving net-zero energy buildings and building decarbonization.
Key topics include HVAC system optimization for improved efficiency, renewable energy integration to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and smart building technologies for real-time energy monitoring and adaptive controls. Building energy modeling and thermal comfort analysis are emphasized as essential tools for evaluating energy performance, indoor environmental quality, and occupant satisfaction under diverse conditions.
Contributions highlight interdisciplinary approaches to sustainable architecture, integrating passive and active design strategies, advanced materials, and innovative control algorithms.
