Summary
We invite submissions to a Special Issue focused on energy management using ISO 50001 and SEP protocols. ISO 50001 and Superior Energy Performance (SEP)are two globally recognized frameworks that help organizations improve their energy and cost efficiency. While ISO 50001 provides a structured energy management framework, SEP drives quantifiable energy performance improvements with third-party validation. They help industries, policymakers, and researchers understand how structured energy management systems (EnMS)can drive energy efficiency, cost savings, and sustainability in a rapidly evolving global energy landscape.
Studying ISO 50001 and SEP provides data-driven insights on their effectiveness, challenges, and potential improvements. The purpose of this special issue is to evaluate their effectiveness, challenges, and impact in organizations. Research in this area supports the integration of digital technologies (AI, IoT, and smart grids)with energy management, enhances decision-making in industrial and commercial sectors, and helps shape future policies and certification programs to promote global energy sustainability.
We welcome original research papers on innovative contributions related to the following topics (non-exhaustive list):
- Effectiveness of ISO 50001 in Achieving Energy Savings
- Integration of ISO 50001 with Smart Grid Technologies
- Comparative Analysis of ISO 50001 and Other Energy Management Standards
- The Role of ISO 50001 in Decarbonization Strategies
- Impact of SEP Certification on Industrial Energy Efficiency
- Advancing SEP with AI and IoT
