Summary
The transport sector is at the heart of global energy transition efforts as it remains one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions. With increasing urbanization, rising mobility demands, and ambitious global climate targets such as net-zero emissions by 2050, the transition of transport systems to sustainable, energy-efficient, and low-carbon solutions is essential. This special issue seeks to advance research, innovation, and practical solutions aimed at accelerating the energy transition in the transport sector.
The issue invites original research, case studies, and review articles on the following themes:
1. Electrification of Transport Systems
2. Alternative Fuels and Powertrains
3. Decarbonization Strategies for Heavy Transport
4. Digitalization and Smart Mobility
5. Policy, Regulation, and Socio-Economic Impacts
6. Case Studies and Regional Approaches
The goal of this special issue is to provide a multidisciplinary platform for academics, policymakers, industry professionals, and practitioners to discuss the technical, economic, social, and policy dimensions of energy transition in the transport sector. The contributions will help bridge gaps in knowledge, foster collaboration, and inspire innovative solutions for a more sustainable future in mobility and transport systems.
